The significance of the Dragonfly is as simple as the sunrise!

The significance of the Dragonfly is as simple as the sunrise. Today I awoke to my dog curled up next to me and on the other side a blue dragonfly was on the pillow at the other end of the bed. It was or is very strange… I thought I was dreaming, I got and the dragonfly flew and up around the apt I spent the next 10 minutes half asleep trying to catch it and put it out side … After 4 minutes I scooped him up with a magazine and a Chinese soup container to get him safely outside by the pool. A half hour later I am walking to the beach at sunrise I as thinking I do not have any pictures of dragonfly’s hmmmm……

I returned home and googled what Dragonfly’s symbolize and I went though thousands of images trying to find one image of a Dragonfly.

The Meaning of a Dragonfly: What Does a Dragonfly Symbolize?

The meaning of a dragonfly changes with each culture. The main symbolisms of the dragonfly are renewal, positive force and the power of life in general. Dragonflies can also be a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. Also, as a creature of the wind, the dragonfly frequently represents change. And as a dragonfly lives a short life, it knows it must live its life to the fullest with the short time it has – which is a lesson for all of us.
There are many different representations of the dragonfly; it all comes down to which culture you happen to be in. For instance, if you are in Japan, the dragonfly symbolizes a new light and joy. Some animal symbolism has the dragonfly representing good luck, prosperity, swiftness, purity, harmony and strength. Some Native Americans believe dragonflies are the souls of the dead. There are also many cultures that believe that the meaning of a dragonfly is happiness, courage and subconscious thoughts. It is also believed that if you see two dragonflies paired together that they represent love and maturity.

The dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and
change for many centuries and even though the representation of the dragonfly seems to change throughout the cultures, there are still a few things that are similar; the dragonfly means hope, change and love. Since cultures vary, others may see the dragonfly as a symbol of financial wealth like savings. With the constant changing of the world, it is no wonder that more and more people are adopting the dragonfly as their totem and admiring this beautiful insect.

Signs that shaped my present

“To dream anything that you want to dream. That's the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits. That is the courage to succeed.” ~Bernard Edmonds

This post is about all the signs that have come my way, whether by accident or by curiosity which drove me to that destined place. Years have past since I have found myself starring at and capturing signs, clouds, roads, trees, graffiti, license plates while on or off assignment. Today after going trough the many images that I have shot over the past 3-4 months while out on the road. From crossing tanks signs, humps signs, warning signs, trespassing signs, animal signs, welcome signs, vacant signs you get the idea there are so many signs that have crossed my site. Over the course of the 6 months signs that have been written in many languages including Spanish, Dutch, English, French, Chinese and also Native American.. Today lessons for me are simply: to stop, to read to listen and to learn from…

For instance flash flood signs which are common through out the Southwest and the west go hand in hand with rattlesnake signs or bridge freezes before road signs. All these signs have lead me back to NYC where after a year of thinking about her or it or them or how I was not paying attention to the signs. Today those signs brought me home to NYC, those signs made me realize that I was viewing without seeing, driving with out a destination, swallowing but not chewing, breathing but not living.. Out and about so many ideas came into my head while many new friends made random appearances, old friends become lovers and my new chapter has been forged.

Today I show you signs, signs that changed my path, signs that prevented me from going further, signs that made me work harder and drive further, signs that still have more meaning that the words written on them. Simply put. Signs are there for each of us: to protect us, to prepare us and to warns us it allows us to see and understand that we all have to find our way home. I am on such a journey and the signs are all there by way of man, women or by way of an animal, in either case I am now plugged in and can see, and I can finally say I hear…
